OMG

So Jack has begun to use the phrase "oh my god" and we are trying to get him to understand that we don't say that in our family. He has learned it from some kids movies, (Superbabies?!) Anyway, yesterday he added a new phrase, "oh my heck!" Where did he pick that up?? We don't say that, I haven't heard it on any movies he's been watching. So our FHE lesson yesterday was on taking the Lord's name in vain and profanity, Christian is having his own issues, and we explained what other things you could say. This morning Jack says, "I can say 'oh my good grief'" Yes that would be okay I respond. Then out of the blue he says, "I wish there was a bean stalk that could go up to Jesus." I love that kid. He cracks me up.

We've been having issues with both kids saying, "naughty words." Claire will say them and then Will repeats them over and over again (stupid, shut up.) We've been doing time-outs but those aren't really doing the job. I just started putting a teeny bit of black pepper on Will's tongue when he says it and it seems to be helping. There's no reasoning with 2 year olds. At least your boys are older and can comprehend "other" words that they can say. I guess everyone goes through it. I know I did...except I got my mouth washed out with soap. YUK!

Langston said OMG the other day too. Good job turning it into a FHE lesson.
While Grandma and Grandpa were here he yelled at Madeline to "Shut the H up!" (He actually said the "H" though.) Where he got that we have no idea.
Kids these days...

You and Matt should be more careful about what you say around him! Did you see my recent blog and Austin and the F-word!!!!!!!!! It could be worse...

Yeah, Leslie. Really. You and Matt and your toilet talk around the kids. Really. I'm sure you are squarely to blame for this. =) Aaaaannnyhooooo......it's true that kids say the darndest things. My little nephews are adorable. Give'em a big hug for me. You guys are doing such a fabulous job raising a beautiful family. Keep it up! Keep the fun, decorative posts coming.
